A dark rubi robe with a violet hue. Nose is reticent to the point of closed. Tannins were prominent and stiff at the beginning. Turns out after 40 minutes or so it started opening and was a very rewarding experience. Tastes more like a cab franc than a majority merlot wine. Very mineral and interesting. Will never be an exuberant wine from what we saw, but no rush, good stuff.
