A little flinty and graphite. Coffee, clove and anise nose. Strong tannic structure

A bold nose of tart cherry, leather and a slight undercurrent of cooked vegetables and black cherry. The body was surprisingly lighter than I expected, with lightly ashy tannins that have been dulled with age, with a lingering tart cherry acidity that sits comfortably in the middle of your tongue and notes of ash, slate, sausage-y meats, coffee, and slight balsamic and vanilla.

Amazing on the nose. Really interesting but then kind of waiting game to see if it opens up. Nose A+. I’m missing this nose in burgs

Nice earth, graphite, and dust mingle with some nice plum and dark currant. It has nice balance and a really nice finish.

Nice spice on the nose that mellows towards vanilla then sort of bursts in one's mouth with first blush blue and black berry flavors followed by a slight tannin grab and acid mix that oozes down one's throat making you wish that it could cling a little longer (a bit short on the finish, but smooth all the same . The decanting benefits are quick and noticeable - so do that. This wine is smooth and ready to drink, now (2004). I really dig this stuff, now! Salute!
PS at Tampa's Haven - go!
