Château Lamartine
Prestige du Malbec Cahors Malbec

From Cahors in Southwest France, this 100% Malbec is pleasantly good for under $20. Showing initial black currant and plum on the palate, the time in French oak barrels has allowed the fruit to integrate nicely with the wood, leather and smokey layers, felt in the mouth. It's a rich, juicy and well structured wine at this price point.

Very good! Smooth medium bodied with some spice on the nose and some earthiness as well. Some tannins but not objectionable. Would pair well with strong foods.

I think I'm becoming a fan of Cahors. Not complex but seriously drinkable. Bright fruit and acidity with old world charm. Yum.

Tastes more like a light Bordeaux than an Argentinian Malbec. Goes down easy. Light body.

Dry old world style Malbec. Everything you would expect of an affordable classic. Dry, tannic and offering deep raspberry tone in the nose without being the least bit jammy. 2012. Would buy it again in a heartbeat.
