2012. Great stuff right here. Spices and earth on the nose, currants, blackberries, sour cherry, darker fruits too. Prunes for sure. Maybe a hint of date. Earthy and grippy. Nice structure (I think?) Great mouthfeel, some tannins but not too much. Definitely will buy this again.

Got so much better after it was open for several hours. Starting to show some aged characteristics. I think you could hold it longer but personally I think it’s great right now.

The 2012 La Vieille Cure is once again a real overachiever. Round, succulent and deeply expressive, the 2012 hits all the right notes. A host of raspberry jam, iron, smoke, herb and spice notes meld together in this impressive, voluptuous Fronsac. This is a very strong showing. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous)

Always a solid bottle but in a double blind and bottle 8 of 8 it was never going to have a fair shake in the line up. Still showed why it’s great QPR.

Amazing QPR for aged Bordeaux. With Italian food and a tomahawk no less. Life and let live.

A semi vertical comparison. Found a few 2012s at the store. Need to buy a couple more. Lots of forest floor, leather, and cherry. Clearly a bordeaux and you could confidently cellar this for a while.

Yes metal, iron whatever. Better with steak, needs to breathe. Good. Worth $30? Idk.

Smells fruity but doesn’t taste it. Better with food than without
