Vintage 2003 / I like this low yield wine from Cot because it has a rich smell combining shy red fruit and earthyness. Not an easy middle of the road wine, it needs cellaring to fully give its expressions and even now after 16 years it has much future left. A certain stubborness, better call it character. Much to discover. Paired with one of my favorite dishes: meatballs from lamb and fresh capucins with a mild mustard fond/sauce.

Dark red color with blueish rim, low viscosity; nose is powerful with some VA and dominated by blueberries and ripe plums, with a hint of bicarbonate, vanilla, and wet earth; taste shows a structure of low alcohol, medium acid, and lots of coarse tannins along with a "disjointed" fruit profile of blueberry, black currant and mulberry mixed with an iron-type minerality; the finish is long and fairly satisfying. Had with Montana Intenso cheese and fennel-spiced italian sausage and dried spanish pata negra filé, and Sviatoslav Richter playing Tschaikovsky's 1st piano concerto with Karajan on DG-vinyl.

Dense, purple dark color, almost inky; sweet spicy notes with hint of rubber, asparagus, and cookie-dough; lingonberries and blueberries, not very mouthfilling, bone-dry and lots of tannins. Rather flat blueberry juice kind of wine. Lucky I am in a good mood today...

Hög denna dofttäta fransos med toner av romerska bågar (apelsin), risbastu, mörka bär och gräs. Spetsigt i flabben med tanniner och oväntat syrlighet.
