The 2005 La Mondotte has softened considerably since I last tasted it a few years ago. Clean veins of limestone-infused minerality run through a core of inky dark fruit, showing just how distinctive this tiny Saint-Émilion property is. Crème de cassis, chocolate, new leather, licorice, spice, lavender and menthol open with a bit of coaxing. This modern, exotically lush Saint-Émilion is a real beauty. Magnificent. Tasted two times. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2021)

The 1999 La Mondotte, which was picked on October 3, is a wine that I had not drunk since 2009. It has quite a deep color with little aging on the rim. The bouquet is fairly intense, offering small black cherries, cassis, violets and a touch of glycerine. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin and a fine bead of acidity, quite muscular in style but focused and with good grip. I appreciate the spiciness and salinity on the finish. A solid La Mondotte that maybe just lacks a little charm. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the estate. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2019)

This was the star of Thanksgiving. The barnyard nose was (strangely) inviting with hints of white pepper. But the flavor... oh the flavor, was excellent. We let this breathe for an hour and could/should have let it breathe for another hour. The flavors changed from spices and cherry to smooth cola. A very long finish of pepper, toast and liquid smoke.

Complex, layered, front, mid & back Palate. This has it all & accompanied by a marathon finish! Love it!

This was fine but not worth the price. Showed more like a cult California cabernet than a claret. Not much evolution over five hours.
