Opened just prior to service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours. As far as I know, this was the first commercially released vintage of La Fleur de Boüard but others may be able to confirm or deny that. The 2000 pours a deep garnet color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe dark fruits: back plums, cassis, pipe tobacco, Flintstones vitamins, purple flowers, dried green herbs organic earth and fine baking spices. “Yabba dabba doo!” On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. Gosh, this is in a really lovely place right now; very well balanced! Thank Andy! Drink now through 2040.

Still amazingly fresh. Cab Franc is strutting it’s stuff. Lovely bright berries. So good right now. Was worried the wine would be tired and now I’m curious how it would show in another 5

What an experience, and I've had the Le Plus. Upon opening I was so concerned it was undrinkable that I nearly dumped it, but sure enough, 3 hours later it was shining and is continuing just as strong 24 hours later. Rich black fruit, heavy cream, underbrush, simmering campfire, and vanilla. #dontjudgeabottlebythefirstsip

Super structured, elegant, fruit-forward. Not a tremendous amount of complexity for a 20-yr-old wine, but highly enjoyable. Probably could use another few years.

This is a beautiful wine from a great vintage. Harmonious, balanced structure, tannins have faded away, at peak maturity
