Château La Confession
St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

Going back to my roots…
I cut my wine tasting teeth (so to speak) on Bdx’s like this, and the good memories come flooding back.
This is a squeaky-clean example displays little signs of age on the nose or palate. Cherries and soft tobacco on the nose give way to ripe tannins and bright acidity on the mid palate. Blueberries and plums are the dominant fruit notes. Expands on the palate becoming ethereal. Peaking now but could sail on for at least another 5 years or so. Predominately Merlot in this excellent blend.

I can smell this all day! Still a baby by far on the palate but in 5 years this will get in the zone and stay there for 20+ Coffee bean, raspberry, cassis, fresh acidity on the palate and the the tannins come in like Lebron and swat the palate shut.

Really nice wine after a couple of hours in the decanter. Still really good the next night after sitting in the decanter for 24 hours. It definitely needs to sleep a few more years before before showing its true colors.

The nose is nice and floral, combined with barrel toast and rich dark fruits.
On the palette, the wine has grip and texture. The merlot contributes edginess, while the cab franc delivers a delicate sweet note. Acidity is superb. Tannins are still a touch green. Pump your brakes on this and let it rest for a few more years, depending on your favorite Bdx style.
14.5% abv. Approx. 67% merlot and 33% cab franc.

Initial opening - very tight and mushroom aromas, after opening- red and black fruits, nice acid
