Tradition Cahors Malbec

Vintage 2020 | it must be frustrating and annoying for a lot of people that do not know much about wine, if you open a bottle with Cahors on the label it is not clear what you taste. Two days ago I drank Eugenie 2014 which was too young, today Haut Monplaisir 2020 (!) that is lively to taste. Red forrest fruit. Round and silky taste. Lovely effort. Yes, I realize it is not about the regional name or AOC but about knowing the producer.

Wow superb Cahors. More of that! Blackberry and a milky touch on the nose. Very easy going palate with a great balance. Some tannins to kick things up in the rear, a chocolate, coffee touch in the end. Great value!

Really enjoyed this with our lamb steaks tonight.

Funky, earthy, leather, plum, fig, complex.

Smooth upfront, sour on the back.

Nice balanced red, not super tannic. A few swirls of the glass vastly improved it and brought out better flavor. Pairs well with food.

Mocha and cherry on the nose. A bit of coffee too. The palate is on the length when I was expecting muscles and strength and body. No tannins and an easy going finish. Ok wine

Lighter but has good spice.
