2017 vintage. A bit of a curiosity as this 4 hectares vineyard is situated on an island in the Ciron river. After years of abandonment it was bought and restaured by the Lamothe family (Château Haut-bergeron). 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon blanc. More freshness compared to the 2016 vintage with ripe pineapple and flowers on the nose. Not especially profound but a very nice lightweight Sauternes with good acidity and good almondy length. Good value too at 23 EUR.

From a replanted vineyard on an island in the Ciron-Garonne estuary. A friend snagged this at Costco; possibly an exclusive? Lacks a bit in concentration & complexity but quite refreshing and pleasant. Pairs more like a Spätlese than Sauternes.
