Château Hallet
Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
Very light straw colored and very lightweight for a Sauternes. Hints of tropical fruit but not terribly botrytized. Wants more stuffing.

Mar 24th, 2014An attractive typical medium gold color that instantly screams Sauternes. Honey and lemon on the nose initially. Smoke and a nice bit of ginger flourish. There’s apricots and pears and butterscotch, oh my. Cinnamon appears along with lightly spiced apples.
These dessert wines are always such fun and a nice change of pace. Pure Sémillon. A bit sweeter than its contemporaries but this is still just a baby. Still has miles to go but right now it is a bit infantile, though enjoyable. Full bodied and fruit forward, this is substantial but not too thick. Nice notes of honey and candies fruits on the tongue. Let this one sit for a few years and it may just surprise you.

Love it! Full of sweetness and smells like peach. Would recommend it to girls. Great with dried cranberries.

Sep 7th, 2015I'm grading on a curve here. For a white dessert wine, this is fine. For a Sauternes, this is really disappointing. Really one note with almost nothing but a cloying sweetness on the palate. 82 points.
