St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend

Wow. This is full of cedar box and smoke, dark fruit, that french terroir of scorched earth, its medium body with smooth tannins. Decanted 1 1/2 hours.

Not as good to drink as the 98.

Figeac killed it in '03. Ripe and appealing medium plus weight red fruit, but none of the clumsiness that marks so many wines from this vintage. Roasted red peppers, duck fat, tobacco ash with just enough cinnamon-stick and clove oak spice. Sexy aroma and velvety texture. I know these are way overdone descriptors, but if ever a wine deserved them, this would be it. Weighty, but so graceful.

Delicious but need a lot of time to open up.

Nice, earthy Bordeaux.

What a fun wine. Earthy farm smells. Rich Humis. Just love it. Wish it had a little more legs. But wonderful.
