Reserve Jean XXII Châteauneuf du Pape Red Rhone Blend

Nice Sunday wine with dry aged steak.

Very enjoyable with a fillet. A touch fruity, but still well balanced, smooth and elegant. Another impressive French wine find at TJ’s for under $20. This one is a bit more special than my go to Famille Perrin Cote du Rhône that costs me $7.99 there. I’d buy it encore.

Lost my notes. Was nice to have a chateauneuf du pape for $20, but I think I’d rather spend more and get a better one or just have something else.

Plum and dark cherries on the nose. Minerality and good mouth feel on the tongue. Bold tannins and moderate acidity. I'm thinking it would get better with age.

Hints of earth and rusted cherry on smell, dark cherry with grapefruit overtones throughout, medium tannin, mild pepper

Very fruity, brought out spice with spicy food.

Very smooth red. Not okay, but a nice mellow fruit. Not sweet, not peppery, just smooth. Does kind of bring spice back to the palate after eating spicy food.
