Château Desmirail
Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend
After 8h in the carafe this is very complete - black currants & cassis with a touch of pencil shavings & eucalyptus. Very fresh & enticing.
Round & savoury on the palate with the tannins fully mellowed and the wine very harmonious & elegant. Not very powerful - somehow this proves the more ‘feminine’ Margaux stereotype.
This is drinking beautifully right now.

For £40 this is a decent Margaux in a top year that’s drinking great already but will still improve 😉

Excellent - deep flavor, smooth round finish. Great with red meat

Jan 20th, 2017Dumb call opening this wine in its infancy. Tannic beast. Still has a nice red rose perfume to it. Other than that I got scents of tar, tobacco and vanilla. In terms of taste there were solid notes of cassis, plum and chocolate. Like every young left banker I have tried the tannins are understandably fierce. The structure is obviously there but needs so much time. What have I done...if anything this wine affirms my right bank favouritism in that the merlot allows them to be celebrated in their youth.
