2009 vintage. 58% Merlot and 42% Cabernet Sauvignon. One of the best wines I've tasted from this estate. Concentrated, ripe, elegant and with good length. As usual great value.

2008 vintage. An unusually high percentage of Merlot (70%), with 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Needs time to open up. More powerful compared to the 2011, but the tannins have some rough edges. I prefer the charm of the lighter and smoother 2011. Abv. 13%.

2011 vintage. 56% Merlot and 44% Cabernet Sauvignon. A very good effort in this much maligned vintage. Smooth, fresh and spicy, not particularly complex but an attractive, fully mature Haut-Médoc. Abv. 14.

2003 vintage. Drinking well. Surprisingly low alcohol (12,5%) in this extremely hot vintage, suggesting a very early harvest.

To fully understand the Lurton family one needs to be a professional genealogist, but if you meet a Lurton in Bordeaux it would be safe to bet she/he is involved in wine business. Marie-Laure is one of the 10 children of Lucien Lurton, and she owns Chateau de Villegeorge in Haut-Médoc and Tour de Bessan in Margaux. Villegeorge 2010 is blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (79%) and Merlot (21%). Attractive nose of cassis, cedar wood and violets. Still plenty of very ripe fruit at 10 years old, good concentration and length. Fine value today at 28 euro.

Dusty, mature, poopy old-fashioned Bordeaux-wine. Medium-bodied and highly drinkable, lots of cedar, cigars and forestfruit. Yum.

Even better than last bottle. Fresher, more fruit and richness. Relatively low acidity levels, very smooth on the palate, cedar and graphite on the nose. Lovely!
