Château de Vaudieu
Admiral G. Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend
This is a delicious 10 year old Grenache from Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Medium plus in body and fruit forward, with nice complexity and mouthfeel.
Dry on the palate with medium acidity and a beautiful flowery nose.
Showing black fruits with oak, licorice, spices, tobacco, herbs, leather, earth, peppercorn, cola and chocolates.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a wonderful wine at this point. Easy drinking right out of the bottle, and so much better after 4 hours of airtime.
I had this vintage 2 years ago and loved it as well. Peaking now, and will continue to drink nicely in the next 5 to 10 years.
This delicious wine, from a good vintage in Southern Rhône, is showing great balance.
I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
100% Grenache grapes were aged for 18 months in new large oak barrels.
15% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$90.

Feb 25th, 2019After an hour of the chanting, this really opened up beautifully. Most definitely had all of the spicy and herb aegis notes. You tend to think of with these wines. Well, structured and well balanced. You could have the deep chewy ruby, bakes raspberry flavors right along with Cooler and sharper time and tarragon and all of those herbs and spices. Still a little hot on the alcohol after 11 years but overall a beautiful wine well worth the wait.
