Tried several times, better but inconsistent quality. Ruby red with dark fruit aromas and slight spice. Blackberry and black cherry flavors with cacao and pepper spice. Medium body fine drying tannins, medium finish, lively acidity, ending with fruit and spice.

Clean ruby red with dark fruit aromas. Blackberry flavors with heavy spice. Medium body big firm tannins, medium finish nothing special, ok for for mid-week red. Tasting Sample.

A Blend of 80% Merlot & 20% Cab Franc, from 65 hectares, of which 42 produce wine. Vineyards planted on upper part of the slopes and have excellent natural drainage & sun exposure. Aromas of black fruits and floral notes. On the palate blackberry and raspberry flavors, tending toward jammy, adding some toasty vanilla notes. Tight tannins lingering finish ending with cedar and fruit. Nice but needs time. Tasting Sample.

Drank 3/28/28. Paired with paprika spiced pork loin.

This is 85% Malbec and 15% Merlot. Inky purple with a garnet rim. Scents of Earth, forrest floor, and tar give way to light black fruits Palate of black cherry, plums, and some earthy menthol flavors. Medium body and well integrated dusty tannins. Red fruits on the medium finish.

3/21/8/5/3 + 50 = 90.

One of the Best Malbecs I've had

Dark purple in the glass. Dark plum on the nose, married with dark chocolate and some earth on the palate. Medium acidity and fine, firm tannins round things out. You think you know Malbec? Not if you don’t know Cahors. And this is a great intro to Malbec’s home appellation. Cahors was sidelined in part thanks to the Bordelaise and their corporate espionage back when the river was the only way to get product to the world. Mostly Malbec with a bit of Merlot. This may be your new Old World best friend. Enjoy anywhere you’d serve Bordeaux or Cabernet.

You MUST DECANT this Malbec, much as you would any other ‘better’ Malbec from Cahors. If you do decant it, say, for an hour or two prior to drinking, you are rewarded with a wine that is ‘creamy smooth’, well balanced, inky dark joy. If you don’t decant, don’t bother trying it. I spent quite some time in Cahors, and their (and some other local vintners) wines are exceptional… more complex than the Argentines, but without decanting, you will not experience the joy.
