Château de Fieuzal
Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Red Bordeaux Blend
This is another candidate for Hedy's rosemary filet mignon. Nose is dark elegant cassis (plum), perfumed purple florals, spice, green bell peppers and a little bandaid or VA. The wine is pure fruit & full tannin evolution. Black plum, plum, blueberries, blackberries, black raspberries, dark cherries, cola, dark cocoa, cooked green bell peppers, tarry notes, anise, dry stones and dry crushed rocks, graphite, decayed dark florals, soft leather, dry underbrush, acidity is like a waterfall, soft harmony in; structure, length, balance and very little tension. The finish runs dry to juicy and ripe. It also goes on for a full two-minutes. Beautiful older Bordeaux that's in high form and bought at value pricing. Out of magnum. Steak notes tomorrow night. Following up, this was the better paring with Hedy's rosemary filet. It's evolution of fruit plus the soft earth married with the elements used to prepare the beef.

Feb 25th, 2017This a lovely Pessac from a great chateau, the 1996 is at its prime and though have a few more years to go, it is just the way I like it. Deep red color with orange reams, a tempting nose of black current, coffee, tobacco in a leather box, wet soil and hint of black cherries and cedar wood. Full body, well balanced with well integrated tannins and fine acidity, luxurious long elegant finish. If you have one enjoy it or keep it for a bit longer. My score 90, drink to 2018

May 16th, 2015I drank this among the best of friends in a haze of carnivorous euphoria. I strongly encourage you to do the same. With Dillon, Scott, Achilles; brought by Ryan, who must have been feeling generous
