Château de Beru
Montserre Chablis Chardonnay
An organic explosion of concentrated Meyer lemon and stony brine. Not for the faint of heart but wow.

Jun 24th, 2020Bright is the dominant word I would use to describe this wine. It shimmers in the glass and on the palate. It speaks of just picked Meyer lemons with a hint of sea spray and of course that core of minerality. I had high hopes when I opened this bottle, and they were surpassed. Paired with a thrown together version of shrimp and grits, this wine brought smiles to our faces and lit up the room with its incredible prettiness.

Mar 19th, 2018Stellar. Acid is singing, but it’s tempered by a slight oxidation. Peanut oil oxidation. Viscous and acidic and textured with mineral laces. It’s got ripping acid for a 15. And no sulfur. Really good.

Feb 16th, 2018This wine is electric. The acid sings even in warmer vintages like 20. The terroir here is so primary (maybe it’s just reduction but fuck that) making the wine from this high exposed rocky outcropping so stony & distinctive. A lot of malic / yogurt notes on the nose which I usually find off putting but didn’t mind in this case. They weren’t overblown and blended well with the lemon and lemon blossom notes. Pair with shell fish to double down on that good ocean funk on the palate.

May 11th, 2024Wow, got that lean Chablis character but some wonderful waxy-ness, yellow apple/pear and length.
