Post crazy family dinner party notes. This sweet dessert Tannat from the Madiran area was a total surprise. I’d likely not have been able to pick it out from a tasting of 10-15 yr old vintage ports, except the alcohol (17%) is a little less prominent. Delicious.

What a fun, 100% Tannat, vin de liqueur this was! Concentrated black fruit aromas and a little spice. M bodied, 17% abv. Château d’Aydie is in Madiran AOP.

Finished the last of our Tannat Maydie. A very easy port-like fortified wine. I highly recommend as did Mike from Petite Cellars.
