2015 vintage. This big 101 ha estate is considered one of the oldest in Bordeaux with vines planted in the 14th century. It's owned by the Castel family since 1971. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Beautiful nose with cassis, blueberries and cedar wood. While the mouth doesn't quite live up to the nose, this is a classic Haut-Médoc with good purity, fresh acidity and well-integrated tannin that opens up nicely in the glass and that should age well. Could do with a bit more body but good value at 12,90 euro. Decanting recommended if you drink it now. Abv. 13%.

Like Sade’s “Smooth Operator” - this Bordeaux blend brings that best of Bordeaux red but toned down a bit on the nose and mouth feel. Not as strong as big red French can be - but a good measure of a good glass of wine that is incredibly smooth. Perfect weekday glass with dinner!

Flavors were typical. Nose and flavors were moderate. Solid but forgettable wine.
