Session 2 of Wine Essentials One at the Institute of Culinary Education Center for Wine Studies.
Characteristic of right-bank Merlot-based Bordeaux, with lower tannins than Cabernet-based Bordeaux and a less dense quality. Has a dark intense brick color that is beginning to break down. Ripe on the nose, with a spicy, jammy bouquet of clove, fig, blackberry, and plum. Vanilla and wood are present here too. Heavier tannic texture with cedar, blackberry, and tobacco flavors. Juicy and ripe.
