Was very excited about this wine and didn’t quite live up to my self-made hype, though ultimately still quite lovely. Slightly heavy on the merlot (80% Merlot and 20% Cab Franc I believe). Tasted over a 4 hour decant, and for the first 3 hours I had almost convinced myself it had gone over the hill, but finally started to loosen up during the last hour. Tannins still surprisingly grippy. Still quite dark purple with garnet edges, medium body with clear chocolate notes backed by a mix of floral violet, herbs, on a bed of dust. Fruit is gone at this point. This wine is coy, and just slightly too introverted for me at this point.. Would go well with a 4-6 hr decant and some moderately fatty to lean meats. I definitely enjoyed it, but at this price would not purchase it again.
