Second only to the 2000 vintage, I like this one.

Phenomenal level; slow-oxed for 3 hours and decanted for 30 mins. Deep hue with a hint of bricking but good shine and legs - still vibrant on the nose with clear Cab Franc notes; smokey, almost meaty (bilton-like) with hints of cocoa nibs, roasted peppers, and pipe tobacco. Ever so slightly numb on the palate - clearly well balanced but perhaps becoming slightly unknit. I suspect it will come back together for the long haul so drink now or from 2040:-)

From the cellar of Nath. Johnston & Fils, being sold 12/2 in NYC. I've never had a 78 this good. Gorgeous, expressive nose, elegant on the palate and persistent.

Still great acid, but silky smooth tannins. More fruit driven than expected

Sweet mineral tobacco and leather. Always love the mature Cabernet Franc character of old Cheval.

Label looked like hell but showed better than most at the age. Cork completely soaked and broke in half, somm didn’t know how to use the house ah so, so I did a live demo for the next bottle. Our version of giving back for Thanksgiving.
