This is a lot of wine for the money, that money being £10.50 / 37cl from The Wine Society and the wine being the 2019 Cheateau Carteau Côtes Daugay, a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru from the Bertrand family. There’s fresh fruit, which has a distinct bright cherry character, dark chocolate, cranberry and fig, all presented on a plush, harmonious palate with nice acidity and mild tannins. There’s a touch of heat on the finish, but it’s easy to forgive such is this wine’s drinkability.
As I say, available in halves, bottles and magnums from The Wine Society, this is a useful wine to have in the cellar!

Extremely dry, acidic, spicy. Ruddy color. Farm fruit at front followed by Leather.
