The 2016 Canon has a clean and fresh nose. The fruit profile is a mixture of red and black with just a hint of black truffle and licorice (the latter a trait that I had not picked up before). The palate is medium-bodied with finer tannins than the bottle four years ago, has a little more assertiveness and grip in situ, and is perhaps firmer and prepared for long-term maturation. It's precise on the finish. I would give this another few years in bottle. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the Icons of Bordeaux dinner at Legacy Records in New York. (Neal Martin, Vinous, May 2024)

The 2020 Canon, bottled in May 2022, has an exquisite bouquet that stops you in your tracks. Breathtaking delineation and focus, taut and linear, yet with ample fruit, this unabashedly exudes its propitious terroir. The palate is delectably creamy on the entry with fine salinity, vibrant and tensile, with a very persistent finish. This Canon ranks amongst the finest overseen by the team in recent years. Chapeau. Tasted twice with consistent notes. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2023)

Pure Blueberry and blackberry with noticeable impression of vanilla from oak. Still quite youthful after 10 years

Fresh with gnarly blackcurrant fruit. Lovely acidity and balance. Meatiness. Still fresh and punchy. Wow

The nose is brightly floral fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, haunting blue fruits, raspberries and strawberries. Limestone, crushed dry rocks, leather, light, fresh tobacco with ash, dark rich earth, stones, anise, herbaceous, steeped fruit teas with amazing, candied, bright red, dark, blue florals with violets.

The body is medium full and lush. Beautiful; structure, tension, length and balance. Sound round, meaty and chewy, tarry, sweet tannins. Floral fruits of; blackberries, black cherries, black raspberries, haunting blue fruits, raspberries and strawberries. Limestone, caramel, cinnamon stick, clove, nutmeg, vanilla, crushed dry rocks, leather, light, fresh tobacco with ash, dark rich earth, stones, anise, dark spices with incredible palate heat, herbaceous, steeped fruit teas with amazing, candied, bright red, dark, blue florals with violets. The acidy is fresh & lively. The well balanced and polished finish is really delicious and persists minutes. This is another wine that jumps 2-4 points with 15-20 years in bottle.

This is so lush and yummy. I’d like a touch more acid but it’s still a baby so could be hiding in all that jammy fruit.
