Mar 15th, 2015Good vintages in Bordeaux often bring me more pleasure than great ones. They are ready earlier and have less of a tendency to shut down. It is also hard to get pleasure from a bottle that you can't buy! This old school 14 year old washed down our steak the way claret should- in big mouthfuls! It had tea leaf complexity, open kirsch like fruit and cleansing acid!

2001, great value at this price range for a left bank Bordeaux. Fresh acidity, ripe fruit, robust tannin, strong graphite and greeny aroma. Beautifully made

Although it's on the skinny side, this wine has a lot to offer. Just decant several hours in advance and drink with traditionally Bordeaux-friendly food.
