Charles Krug
Limited Release Cold Springs Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Heavier on the Petite Verdot than anticipated but it goes well. Smooth, velvety, and easy drink. This cab is a gentle beast.

Oct 12th, 2019Every bit worthy of a 9.5. Struggling to stay away from the 9.6. Never considered Cold Springs to be that vanilla rich BlackBerry infused Howell Mtn 'norm' that I see a bunch. This is a black cherry infused monster with a very potent and powerful front. Some acidity but mostly fruit on the front. More of an herbal infused middle with a touch of beef jerkey, black cherry, mint, cola. Finish still tannic but peppery. Probably the 'B' barrels of Aloft, and would love to do a side by side comparison.

Nov 28th, 2017Holy wow. This wine is a monster. This wine is probably going to drink its best in 2022, and probably won't go anywhere until 2030 or longer. This wine was already drinking well last night. Half of the bottle was still remaining, but neither of us recorked it. So, this wine was left UNCORKED all night, and recorked at 8AM today. About 7 hours after that, this wine was tasted and WOW. This wine could run the table with the best. POWER! Cassis, blueberry, blackberry, vanilla, mint, spice, peppery finish, great tannin, impeccable structure. From the same vineyard that Aloft comes from, this is better than any Aloft I've ever had at half the price. MIND BLOWN. And this one will only get better. As I would prefer not to decant this wine for 18 hours, I'll just hold the others for 2 years and then decant for 4-5 hours instead!
