Charles Joguet
Chinon Cabernet Franc Rosé
Monthly WTF wine group night. Our theme was American oak vs French oak. All wines tasted blind. We started off with two bottles of bubbly and finished with two non-themed reds.
One of the most unique, and enjoyable, rosés I’ve had in a while. More orange than pink in the glass. As expected, herbal and musty aromatics with underripe nectarine and black cherry skin. Soft and round on the palate with additional note of tart rhubarb. Complex. Thanks @Jack Thompson

This has a level of complexity unusual for a rose. Very clean earthy minerality vies for prominence with cherry, nectarine, and passion fruit. Dry and full, with great purity and refreshing acids. Top notch!

Sep 22nd, 2017Thanks to Mariposa ;) A punchy rose matched nicely with Linguine Shrimp Scampi for lunch. The etiquette is somewhat art nouveau-ish - cute.

Jul 15th, 2018Solid, versatile pink juice from the Loire. Soft red berry fruit, fresh rose and lavender floral character, crushed gravel minerality, some lager-y leesiness, and just a bit of that distinct Cab Franc vegetal greenness. Moderate acid, medium (-) body with an enjoyable slightly oily texture, dry. Good choice with a diverse cheese and charcuterie spread; was agreeable with everything we had laid out.
