Founded by Donn and Molly Chappelet in 1967 on renowned Pritchard Hill. A blend of 76% Cab Sauv, 9% Petit Verdot, 6% Malbec, 5% Cab Franc & 4% Merlot. Deep Ruby with purple edges, aromas of dark berry fruits, cedar, cacao and gentle sweet herbs. On the palate rich flavors of blackberry and currants with sweet oak and herbs with a great mouthfeel. Soft fine tannins, lingering ending with fruit and gentle oak. Will improve but great now!

Taming the wild beasts...
This big'em is delicious. Mostly a herbacious nose. Fruit on the palate but it has resolved to be non-red non-blue, I guess currant/pepper is there. The tannins are subtle and it lingers with a bit of tobacco.

Let me try to put some effort into this one. Only 40 minute decant, still running hot. Deep opaque purple. A nice evergreen/fir spice on the nose. Blueberry pie on the front palate, but no sugar remnant. Full-bodied. Really nice tannic structure at the end that doesn't pucker the lips. I tainted my buds a bit with a red pepper marinara sauce, so the I might be misinterpreting the the heat source.

Well, it was the last bottle of the night on New Year's Eve and my taste buds were pretty dulled, so I'm going to give it another try before adding my real score. I enjoyed it and am going to go with the average until I can revisit. The 2012 and 2013 were great QPR and I expect this to be the same!
