Silky oak - sweet vanilla, brioche. Ripe and juicy red cherries, raspberries, and earl grey tea. Violet and licorice. Elevated acidity, smooth diminished tannins. Long finish. Over delivers.

Overall left slightly disappointed by what is objectively a nice wine from Chantereves. Have enjoyed their other wines very much. But for the price this one just doesn’t quite get there for me. Decanted 3 hours and was better at the end than the beginning. On cork pop would have guessed a decent cru Beaujolais. With some air this reveals more earth and nuance. Acid slightly lacking and the finish is a bit short. Still a nice pairing with roast chicken, but won’t buy again for this price.
