Bien Nacido Vineyard Pinot Noir

The fruit for this wine comes entirely from blocks N and Q, located in the middle of the Santa Maria Bench. Aged for 15 months in French oak (25% new). Ruby with warm red fruit aromas and complex spice. On the palate raspberry and cherry flavors, pepper and herbs, savory with smooth tannins. Lingering finish ending with earthy oak. 24 Barrels produced. Tasting Sample.

Started out like a dead ringer Burgundy. Won't be a long term keeper but drinking well. Green all the way through with a well structured acidic finish. 2 hours in it started to go flat.

At home with sous vide seared duck breast and braised short ribs.

At home with sous vide ribeye and Patagonian toothfish.

With pizza in Portland with friends.

Liked it. Pencil lead, does not seem like a pinot at first, almost like a sweet merlot and then the pinot shows itself.

Met the wine maker tonight. Great guy.
