May 27th, 2018Pure ruby with cherry red accents in the glass. All black fruit on the nose such as blackberry, black cherry, black pepper, a nice amount of smoke, and gravely rocks. I absolutely love these inexpensive Italian reds. Not quite simple but certainly uncomplicated and easy to sip on. Smooth tannins and reminiscent of a rustic old mother, there’s not much here to elevate this to the level of great Italian reds but it’s certainly good enough to drink throughout the year. The palate confirms the nose with dark fruit up front without being a fruit bomb. There’s a streak of leather that runs throughout giving it some refinement. I could drink one of these every week.
