Restaurant La Boca in Santa Fe, small popular spot for Spanish tapas with nice selection of Spanish wines is where we tried this wine.

Great, versatile Spanish red wine. It comes from a recently created wine district called Montsant which was craved out of the older, better known district of Priorat in NE Spain.

It is a blend of 40% Carignon (termed Mazuelo on the bottle), 40% Syrah and 20% Garnacha.

About $16 a bottle at Argonaut Wine Store in Denver. Why does Delectable say it's not available!?

Just say no to the Republican plan to steal from everyone and give to the rich.

Enjoyed with garlicky fingerling potatoes, blue cheese and figs, paella and chocolatey dessert.

Lovely with Boeuf Bourguignon (15). Robust yet elegant. Enjoyed again in 2024 with rack of lamb ($18).

2013. Surprised I haven’t had this wine while I’ve been using Delectable, I remember enjoying it several times previously. I’ve had this bottle in the cellar since 2015 and it aged wonderfully and drank well above the $15 I paid for it (I noted $2 off - on sale!). Paired great with spaghetti with sausage and roasted cremini.

Practicing for our trip to Priorat /Montsant. I haven’t tried this region of Spain before due to a slight aversion to bright acidity of some other Spanish reds. This is not the case with the two we’ve tried so far.
This is a lush, jammy dark fruit wine with ok balance. Black raspberry, blackberries, plum (but not dull like typical description of plum). The fruit stands out to start and the heat of the alcohol stands out at the end. Wish it came together a little better, but enjoyable. I imagine awesome with some Spanish tapas. So looking forward to this trip!
Any Priorat / Montsant recommendations welcome!!!
