Nov 13th, 2024Cork shredded on way out of the bottle, but wine is happy and not suffering from cork taint, rich blue and dark fruits, some sweet oak framing, nice balance, medium-long finish, solid older Sierra Foothills Syrah.

Apr 4th, 2024This is a lovely Syrah, but more astringent from the more typical foothills ABV (14.7% vs. 13.5% in the 2011 Syrah), and probably not the perfect choice to open on a hot summer day, medium-long finish, solid.

Aug 6th, 2023This was a low ABV vintage in California, and this lovely Syrah really benefitted from it, dark fruits, great balancing acidity, long finish, very nice!!

Aug 6th, 2023Riper than the 1998, a bit of heat shows in the finish (higher ABV than the 1998), primary fruit, should age still, I just worry about holding it in case the fruit drops and all that is left is alcohol.

Oct 27th, 2018Lovely 20-year-old Sierra Foothills Syrah, still some creamy notes from the oak, lovely dark fruit flavors, seems almost mature, still some primary fruit flavors, should last 5-10 more years easily.
