Took on our wine date night to the Oakton Wine Shop and Bistro.
Deep garnet red with lighter edges. Lovely nose with layers of smoke, the 'rocks/Cayuse' funk, meaty, stinky, red cherries, tobacco, sweet spices and a little dark berries. Heavy tannins (7/10) and medium bodied. Great acidity, texture and structure. Layers of dust, a little blue fruits, black pepper, brambles, and great minerality. More layers and complexity with time in the glass, especially the blue and pepper notes. Perfect with the lamp chops. Drink till 2025.

2011 vintage. Really opened up and softened after about 90 mins. Drank this next to a Napa cab and our guests just kept going back to this one. Super engaging and the Rocks fruit added depth and another dimension. Fun night.

Nov 5th, 2018Pretty yummy wine, Holly thinks it's pretty light, I love it...it's a good out of the bottle blend. Would I buy it again, probably but there are a lot of wines out there and it's a WA 9, California 7...this wine is smooth like a hot knife through butter.
