Here's a nice surprise. This 39 year old Premier Cru, from a not so good vintage in Burgundy, is still drinking nicely after all these years.
Showing cherries, red currants, earth, vanilla, oak, licorice and spices.
Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Dry on the palate and tangy.
Short finish with fine grained tannins and tangy pomegranates.
Good right out of the bottle, and better with some air time (45 minutes).
Easy drinking, but not fully balanced anymore. Good by itself or with food.
Still has nice structure, but not complex as I wanted it to be. Still, always a pleasure to try these old wines.
I paired it with light appetizers.
12% alcohol by volume.
88 points.
