Caves Ropiteau Freres
Bourgogne Pinot Noir

Dark ruby. Nose of red cherry and leathery earth. Medium-bodied, fruity (for a Burgundy) palate echoes the nose. Medium plus firm tannins on opening; softening to a more friendly velvet with air. Definitely a wine for food, and it will shine in that place. Salmon, duck, medium/soft cheeses, or even lighter preparations of beef (Bourguignon, anyone?) will do nicely. Drink now through 2024.

A sub $30 Pinot that's worth drinking? Absolutely. I get a lot of cranberries, coco and mushrooms on the nose. A bit smoky, like old camp site smoky, which isn't a bad thing. The spice is delicious. The fruit is a bit dull, but the complexity does come through. There's a healthy dose of acid and tannin here as well. To be honest, this should really cellar for another 3 years to let it smooth out a bit.

Fruity and sharp. Delectable top spring fruits. Green strawberries and barely ripe raspberries. Tingles in the sweetness department but aftertaste is mild and slightly earthy. Good pinot. Goes down easy. Medium acidity because of its youth.

Very full for a Pinot, lengthy finish with defined tannins.

A classical, and more regional-driven Burgundian 100% Pinot Noir. Enticing sharp red cherry color, red fruity aromas with rounded acidity, so typical from Burgundy’s soil of clay-limestone based. Since it combines grapes sourcing from village to village with different terroirs selected to enhance an elegant expression of Pinot Noir, this one still keeps the Ropiteau’s house style. It is definitely an excellent region representation at an excellent price point. Cheers!

Light body, chocolate & berries. A lovely drinkable Pinot Noir. Though young. Great for the price.
