This wine punched me in the mouth. I don't drink a lot of Syrah so that may be part of the reason. But the intensity of the flavor is rarely matched. At first I get leather, bing cherries, blackberry, stewed meat, and a finish of smoke and damp earth. The tannins are powerful. I probably should have let this wine age another 5-10 years. This may not be the best hermitage but for me it was a revolution.
