Vin des Seigneurs Valle d'Aosta Mayolet
First #Mayolet #wine I can remember having. Deep crimson color, almost opaque. Austere at opening, funky, earth floor, leather, wet red roses. With time a front to back palate of delicate finishing with cranberry, mild cherry. Straightforward and a little unexciting. Needs food. Opened 12/6/17

Dec 10th, 20162012 vintage. Black plum, violets, bit gamy. Nice tart finish with subtle tannin. Good example of d'Aostan vino.

Jun 27th, 2016A gorgeous expression of the region, reminiscent of wild berries and alpine breeze. A nose of candied cherry and chamomile, evolving to clove and cinnamon. Palate is delicate, a subtle expression of fruity liveliness and fresh herbs, leaving you ponderous and refreshed.

Really interesting red from Northern Italy -- the server described it as "alpine" and it really was--tasted like pine trees and bracing mountain air!
