A ripe, full, balanced Chianti. Color is fairly saturated. Nose shows dark black cherry, intense and rich minerality, lots of pencil lead (no, we’re not in Pauillac, Toto). In the mouth, it’s on the more sedate, less acidic side, with almost rich flavors of cherry and liquid stones. Finish is very long, with lowish acids for a Tuscan Sangiovese, and quite a bit of tannin, though it is well obscured and integrated. Not a pizza wine, though that’s what I opened it with. Like a Brunello, this would shine with a grilled steak.
