Castello di Amorosa
Melanson Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
Napa Valley, California, USA

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Deep inky in color with a short reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blackberries, black currants, black cherries, cedar, vanilla, licorice, chocolates, herbs, dark coffee and mediterranean spices.
Full-bodied with elegant with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black plums, cooked cherries, dried figs, light earth, cedar, licorice, chocolates, herbs, coffee, mediterranean spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This 5 year old Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley is drinking beautifully now. Elegant and rich. Concentrated and powerful.
Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel, and a gorgeous nose. Good right out of the bottle and better with some air time.
This Single Vineyard Napa Cabernet needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly, but already so approachable. Will continue to age nicely in the next 20 years, and showing good potential to become a 96+ point wine.
A great sipping wine that will also pair nicely with a big piece of steak.
Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were aged for 20 months in new French oak barrels.
15.1% alcohol by volume.
93 points.
$250.

Perfect! It is a long time since I have had a Cabernet Sauvignon this good. The nose is leather and dark fruit. The complex palette consists of chocolate, smoke, earth, leather, oak, and blackberry. Needs steak. This wine is ready to drink now. I bet it would have been too strong in prior years.

I get a bit of Brett in this one. Tannins, acid.

A new one! The castle. This was a first for me - and it was delish.
Other bottles regrettably not captured include the tried, true and consistently mouth watering Venge '14 Bone Ash cab, and a super Tuscan that I couldn't finish - not for me.

Getting better and better, still a long way to go
