Sep 6th, 2015This one didn't quite meet my expectations based upon the way it has been built up from what I heard. Nonetheless, this is a solid wine. Color was Garnett, a dark middle but brick at the edge. Nose was warmer and fruitier than I expected. Warm, baked clove, toasted bread, Rose, Sage, mushrooms, raspberries. Tastes surprisingly tart and acidic, cranberry, pomegranate, dried herbaceous, hints of licorice, mushroom. It became more "Pinot-esque" as it drank with the mushroom coming out late. Based on my previous experience with this grape, it was surprisingly tart forward on the tongue, but in the end, it was still three dimensional.
