A good (somewhat sophisticated) pizza wine. A little more oak than needed, lending a bitter edge, but a more than serviceable Chianti, allowing the Sangiovese to shine.

Wood present but not overwhelming. Ripe, extracted fruit with dusty tannins and a lifted finish. Still needs time but starting to unravel.

This has all my favorite Sangiovese character--plums, wild herbs, and even figs and orange zest in an awesome aroma. But then--am I the finish-police?--a medium to medium-short finish cuts it off too soon for me. Still: plenty enjoyable with burgers for a Friday night!
