Dark, clear reddish purple in the glass. Nose is shy on opening, eventually yielding black raspberry and patent leather. This is echoed in the lighter than expected palate. Tannins are manageable (medium) on opening — a little too much for the appellation — and soften significantly with air. Acidity is characteristically bright (medium plus). Finish is medium long and dark. Clearly made for food, and priced to go with just about anything. You could probably hold this for a bit, but you only paid fifteen bucks. Drink this now for a “lite” Riserva experience. Cellar your Brunello and pricier Riservas.

Deep red color, almost purple. Very intense initial nose. Very heavy nail polish smell. Very focused scent, with a distant red fruit smell. Very earthy taste, with hints of cherries. Light sugar. (Interesting to note, I can a very quick seafood aftertaste, which was bizarre).

Soft magenta color.
Classic aromas immediately. Structured tannins of loam, grassy florals on the nose.
Medium to full-bodied with structure and a medium-long finish.

Really excellent, especially for the price. I believe 2018 was a great year for many varietals.

Good Chianti, bright and acidic, and heavier on the pallate than it looks.

A couple years in my cellar has really helped this wine, really nice classic Italian wine, violets, roses, dry but with a nice mouthfeel. Not too tannic at all. Pleasantly warming.

A bit of bite at first but got much better after 30 minutes of air. I like it. Nice change from California wines.
