It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Dark ruby in color with a short purplish rim.
On the nose blackberries, black cherries, earth, black plums, cedar leather, vanilla, tobacco, chocolates, coffee and black pepper.
Full bodied with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate and very fruity, with blackberries, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates tobacco, spices and peppercorn.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up.
This 6 year old is still young, but already very enjoyable. From the great 2016 vintage, and it is showing.
As it opens up (two hours), more complexity and structure come in, well worth being patient. Will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.

The body is full, beautiful round, soft & elegant. The fruits are perfectly ripe. Spiced blackberries, dark cherries, strawberries, black plum, plum, bigger minerality, cherries, dark rich soil, graphite, some pepper, chewy leather, crush rocks, leather with dark red & blue flowers and violets. Beautiful acidity, the round, ripe, elegant, well balanced finish is amazing.
All the wines we tasted were still extremely fresh.

Its not one of the 100 pointers he had for 16, but its probably the most structured I’ve had. Great for Fillet Mignon
The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon The Grand Daddy comes from a parcel of clone 4 Cabernet Sauvignon in the famed To Kalon Vineyard. This parcel was replanted in 2018, so it will be 4-5 years before these vines makes it back into the cuvée
