A very well respected small producer. This too may have suffered freezer shock as was put in deep freeze briefly by my host-& this is even a more delicate wine than most. It was also sandwiched btw two robust more traditional reds. In the end it was just meh, but w all the aforementioned caveats

a celebration wine tonight. my wife and i were lucky enough to visit mendoza on our first vacation together 5+ years ago and even before we were “into” wine. we accidentally stumbled into carmelo patti’s humble litttle wine operation and only later did we learn he is a local legend. his old world style cabernet sauvignon is one of our “special wines” and is a must try. the malbec is less renowned / unique but is still good and made in a much more restrained style than a lot of argentinian malbec. heavy plum and rich soil on the nose, and on the palate it’s plum, metal/graphite, a touch of acid. needs plenty of time to open up for the tannins to round out. it’s not a memorable wine per se, but it’s a memory for us!
