Holds its 15.7% ABV really well. Would have never guessed. Heavier and spicier than the Carlisle Piner-Olivet it was next to. Age has given this a bit of a softened/older tobacco note. Plum, black cherry, overripe blackberries.

Very aromatic. Fruit forward on the palate with notes of red cherry and plum. Surprising structure. Zinfandel sourced from various Russian River Valley vineyards including Banfield, Saitone, Carlisle, Montafi, and Papera from vines planted between 1881 to 1934 with interplanted mixed blacks.

From four RRV vineyards averaging over 100 yrs old. Everything Carlisle makes is awesome but to me this one is the QPR winner of the whole lineup.

Aug 7th, 2017A step up from the Sonoma designate and a #qpr winner. Something about Zin and Russian River just make magic. Wondering if any Carlisle Vineyard juice went into this bottling, I get a lot of similarities here and that is extremely high praise.

Funny to me: enjoying my fav Carlisle zin, eating lamb burgers at home, checking email, I click on my Delectable newsletter and decide to drill into the app. I see all the great posts and wonder why I don’t make this a daily interaction. So I decide to post what I’m drinking. To do so, I check my profile and see that the last time I posted as “169 weeks ago”... for THIS very wine (2012 vintage)! Ha! No, I swear, this is not the only wine I drink! But, damn, it’s delicious every year. Bring on summer bbq!!
