Another great Weekly Wine Committee in the books, this time hosted by Dan. Format stayed the same (1 sparkler, 3 whites, 4 reds, 1 dessert wine) and everything is guessed blind.

Red of the day for me. Kept going back and forth between zin or Pinot. Great restraint here. A luscious wine. Blue and black fruits, vanilla, French bread. Gorgeous aromatics!

Beautiful wine Aromatically complex with raspberry, cherry, tons of spice, and whiffs of candied citrus rind, and dust. Raspberry, cherry, and intense baking spice flavors aromas explode on the palate are nicely balanced by very good acidity, and dusty soft tannins. Supple texture. Long finish. Last tasted 2 years ago. Just got better with time.

Ripe and round...nice inky dark color and chewy texture. No discernible tannin or alcohol (though listed at 16.3)... the wine is nicely resolved at 10 years. Black fruit, pencil lead, and spice notes. A well grown and produced example of California Zinfandel at ten years. Another example that Zinfandel can age gracefully.

Waves of sweet, black fruits and Fall baking spices coupled with leather and tobacco wash from the glass. A touch of alcohol heat, but tempered with sweet pomegranate and black cherry fruit. Long, smooth finish goes on and on with a hint of smooth, supple tannin. Perfect dinner companion for inch thick pork chop and beef-braised pasta. Thoroughly convinced that aged Carlisle Zins are ultimate food companions!
