Lots of muted fruits and barrel toast/baking spices on the nose. Medium + tannins & medium acid. Black plum, plum, blackberries, dark cherries, black raspberries, cocoa powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove, light vanilla dark chocolate, anise, violets, rich volcanic minerals, crushed rocks, medium leather, barrel shavings. It's still a big wine but drinking nicely today. Better to wait 10 plus years. Nice pair with the smoked duck.

nose shows earth, fur, very ripe blackberries, garrigue, grilled meat, cedar/cigarbox, faint green pepper....taste is beautiful. everything is so well integrated- one seamless whole. rich, dark, smoky, smooth tannins- but with a great railroad spike of acidity around which all the softness is wrapped.
